I am a Danish Jugendlicher Heldentenor born and raised in Copenhagen. The interest for singing and opera came to me, as I was introduced to “La Boheme” in high school by a close friend. A whole new and exciting world opened itself to me, and I have been hooked ever since. My official education as a singer was at The Royal Danish Academy of Music, where I graduated in 2001; but I find as an operasinger you never really finish educating your voice. Many great teachers have had an influence on my technique and understanding of singing, but one of the greatest inspirations and groundbreaking encounters with a mentor, has been meeting Professor Douglas Yates back in 2001, just after finishing my degree. He helped me find my own voice and our work together layed the ground for who I am as a singer today. Singing has taken me around the world, and my professional career as a soloist started out in England in 2003 where I worked for a couple of years and then back in Denmark from 2006 I have gained an enormous amount of experience especially from the stages at The Danish National Opera, The Royal Opera, Den Ny Opera, and Funen Opera. A big dream came true in 2008, when Funen Opera offered me the role as Rodolfo in “La Boheme”, the very first opera I was introduced to, and the composer Puccini´s operas have been a great playground for me. Since then I have done the roles of Pinkerton and Cavaradossi with great pleasure and benefit for my voice. In 2012 I started working with the dramatic German repertoire together with tenor Tonny Landy and heldentenor Stig Fogh Andersen, and in May 2014 I won 2nd prize and the orchestras prize in The Lauritz Melchior International Singing Competition. Following this I started studying with Elena Batoukova Kerl and Torsten Kerl, who have both been a tremendous help and a great inspiration for me in my Wagner-studies. 2016 gave me my official Wagner debut as Erik in Der Fliegende Holländer for Opera på Skäret and 3 wonderful productions for the Czech National Opera in Brno. One of them was the role of Boris Grigorjevic in Kát´a Kabanová directed by Robert Carsen (you can check out excerpts from both performances in Audio & Video on this site). In the summer 2017 I sang my first big Wagner role as Siegmund in Die Walküre at Den Ny Opera in Esbjerg for which I won the prestigious Danish theatre award “Reumert” as singer of the year 2018. The same role I performed in Germany in 2018 at Theater Kiel. Since then my career has taken me many wonderful places and theatres around the world and in the coming seasons I will be debuting in prestigious theatres such as Teatro di San Carlo in Naples, Leipzig Oper, and in 2020 at the renowned Bayreuther Festspiele.
